City Centre Qurum promotes the local art scene; creates a platform for up-and-coming artists

‘Love Art’ initiative to showcase the works of new and established artists

Whether a budding arts school student working on a project, an up-and-coming emerging artist looking for visibility, or a well-established name in the industry, there is a new platform for artists to showcase their talent – and its taking shape at City Centre Qurum . Under the theme of ‘Love Art’, City Centre Qurum is committed to promoting the local and regional arts scene by lending dedicated creative and exhibition space in key areas of the mall, at no charge. With Dubai’s growing arts and culture scene, and dynamic of international residents and visitors – ‘Love Art’ is long-term initiative that enhances City Centre Qurum ’s urban and lifestyle offer.

Recently, City Centre Qurum in partnership with Glory Art Gallery featured an emerging contemporary artist, Arshad Hussain. Pakistani-born but residing in Dubai, Arshad is a shining talent among the young-generation artists in the regional arts scene with his use of vibrant colours and varying media. Glory Art Gallery supported the mall’s “Love Art” initiative to promote understanding and appreciation of Art to the wider community, through a program of education, exhibition and publishing. Together, the organisers presented Arshad’s abstract works in an appealing display on the mall’s Centre Stage, which complemented the art festivals taking place across Dubai.

Art has also been featured in City Centre Qurum ’s dedicated creative space, the Bridge Gallery which is located in the newly opened Metro Link area. To be used for photography, painting or design exhibitions, the Bridge Gallery is an ideal, ambient space with plenty of natural light and high visibility with nearby cafes, and convenient location close to the Dubai Metro. Having recently hosted a colourful Holi photography exhibition, City Centre Qurum ’s Bridge Gallery is the ideal platform for students and emerging talent to showcase their works, in a specially designed area that best highlights their art. Moreover, as space is offered at no charge – ‘Love Art’ is truly a vehicle for passionate artists to share their collections to a captive audience.

“With ‘Love Art’, our new arts and culture initiative, City Centre Qurum is providing a stepping stone for local and regional artists wanting to showcase their artwork,” said Fuad Najjar, Senior Asset Director, Asset Management, Shopping Malls. “The growing arts scene in Dubai is continually fostering new talent, as is the need for new, exhibition spaces. As part of our commitment to promoting up-and-coming artists, we will continue to work with art galleries, exhibition organisers and independent photographers, painters and all interested artists to leverage ‘Love Art’ and share their works in our mall, providing an enhanced experience for our visitors.”
