Majid Al Futtaim—the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia—will host its annual ‘Qaranqasho’ celebration at City Centre Muscat on May 30 and City Centre Qurum on May 31, creating great moments for visitors from 9pm to 11pm.
Qaranqasho is a time-honoured Omani custom recognised on the 14th and 15th day of Ramadan. It has become an integral part of the Omani heritage and not only marks the middle of the blessed month but is a unique practice to motivate and encourage young children to observe the fast. This celebration sees families dress their little ones in traditional clothes and receive sweets and other treats to take home.
During the much-awaited celebrations, children and families visiting the malls will be able to enjoy engaging activities and singing special rhymes for sweets as is traditionally done in neighbourhoods throughout the Sultanate. This celebration sees families dress their little ones in traditional clothes and receive sweets and other treats to take home.
City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will also be hosting a puppet show. Puppets will be dressed in traditional Omani clothing that will surely mesmerise kids and adults with singing, dancing and storytelling. Additionally, guests will have the chance to step into an interactive bubble world and an array of bubbling routines and artistry.
The initiative highlights City Centre malls’ commitment towards fostering the Sultanate’s culture and traditions and reinforcing the company’s vision to creating great moments for everyone, every day.
City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum are open from 10am to 12 midnight during the first three weeks of Ramadan and from 10am till 1am during the last week and Eid days. The malls offer a wide range of Arabic and international dining options for Iftar and Suhoor.
